ようこそ工場跡へ

東大寺戒壇院裏に静かに佇むこの場所はどこか懐かしく、なぜか研ぎ澄まされた空気が流れています。 かつて、この場所では人々の健康長寿を願い乳酸菌飲料や食用菌類の研究及び製造が行われていました。 製造休止後30年近くの休息を経て、平成21年11月3日あらたに「工場跡」として新しい時間（とき）を刻み始めました。 ここを訪れる皆さんが“時を超えて大切にしておきたい何か”を感じていただける場所になればと願い 多くの職人さん達のチカラを借りてできるだけそのままのカタチを残しながらrenovationしました。 90年間変わらないこの建物と空間を皆様とともに共有し、大切にしていきたいと思います。 そして、「工場跡」の不変と成長を私たちと共に愉しんでいただけましたら幸いです

ABOUT THIS SITE “KOJOATO”

This building-site was first constructed in 1925 as a factory making yoghurt beverages for a long, healthy life. The factory had been in operation until around 1980. After nearly 30 years of rest, the site has renovated and opened on November 3, 2009. Hence the name “Kojoato”, that literally means “old factory”. We hope this handsome architecture to preserve in its original state as far as possible, and this site will grow as a place where one can feel something important that will not change with the times. We would be happy if you enjoy the growth and the maintenance of “Kojoato” with us.

HISTORY

百年ほど前、日本が物質的に豊かでなかった時代、人々の健康長寿を願い、乳酸菌を研究してヨーグルトドリンクを製造していました。 「太って健康になる」とネーミングした乳酸菌飲料「フトルミン」。 昔の書簡を紐解くと、医師の紹介により脊髄カリエスなど、当時はまだ不治の病や病弱で困っていた全国の方々のお役に立っていたようです。 明治、大正、昭和、時代の流れとともに、昭和50年代半ばで、その役割を終えました。

“Futorumin” is our brand name of a lactic acid bacteria beverage (yoghurt drink) made about 100 years ago, hoping for a healthy long life when it was difficult to get proper nourishment. It was loved especially by seriously sick people who had no effective remedy at that age. Many old letters show that this beverage supported a lot of patients in various parts of Japan. It had been produced and loved until around 1980 and the role came to an end.
